Make eating fruit Needs, Not Choice!

Eating fruits and vegetables did not become a habit of many people. In fact, the fruits contain vitamins, minerals, and fiber that are needed for the human body. Nutrition expert, Emilia E. Achmadi said, eat the fruit should not be considered as an option or choice, but must be regarded as a necessity.
"People have to change the mindset. Think of fruit as a necessity as we breathe," he said, when media education event titled 'Does You Good' Discover the Surprising Benefits of Unique Fruit, Wednesday (05/09/2012), in Jakarta.
According to Emilia, fruit consumption in Indonesia is still lacking. In fact, by eating fruits with a considerable portion, can help meet daily nutritional needs. "So always try to enter the fruit at each meal," he said.
 
To get the most from the nutritional content of fruit, Emilia recommends that the fruit is not presented in a way it is cooked. Because the composition of the vitamin B complex and C in fruit is not very strong with the heat and light exposure. So, the longer the fruit is heated, the more nutrients are lost.
Fruit or Juice?
Often people ask which is better, eat fruit or juice? Basically, the consumption of fresh fruit memng better. Why? Because by eating fruit, we are moving the jaw for chewing and stomach to process food. This means that we are asking the agency to begin actively making up your metabolism.
"But the next question is whether we allow our lifestyle to eat fruit in bulk? If the answer is no, then we should see the second base of the fruit, the juice," he said.
According to Emilia, would be better if someone could combine the fruit and juice. Communities also need to be careful to choose the juice, because of the high levels of sugar in the juice. Even so, it would not be too scared because sugar was also required by the people as a source of energy.
Gastric acid
Consumption of fruit is too much for it is often associated with increased production of stomach acid. However, for people with good health and had no problems with stomach disorders, consumption of large amounts of fruit usually has no effect on health.
"So we need not fear the acid content in the fruit as long as we are still healthy," said Emilia.
Fruit consumption should be balanced with the intake of other foods with fewer carbohydrates and protein so that the acidity can be maintained. But for those with stomach disorders, consumption of fruit should be adjusted to the required portion. People with stomach problems should be measured again at how many pieces they can consume.
In addition, continued Emilia, people with stomach problems (ulcers) must also choose fruit with a specific level of acidity. So do because we already have an ulcer, then lime juice drink, but it may be soft with a more juice like apple keasamannnya level is not too high or maybe avocado.
"This fruit is more safe for consumption by people who have had problems with stomach acid because there penetralisirnya," he concluded.
